Jay Vanos
Born to Dutch immigrants and raised in California, Jay spent his early years in the canyons between the Malibu coastline and the San Fernando Valley, developing skills in surfing, skiing, art photography, ceramics and fine woodworking.
He left a course in marine biology at UCSD for architecture, earning a BA at San Diego State University in 1980 and a Master of Architecture at SCI-Arc in 1985, where he received the Henry Adams Gold Medal. He and his wife Jeanie have three grown children and live in Topanga Canyon in a house they built in 1993.
